TGIF- Friday Favorites

Happy Friday folks, let’s get this Friday Favorites started shall we?

As usual, linking up with these lovely ladies:

April at Smidge of This for Five on Friday, Karli at September Farm for Oh Hey Friday, Amanda at Meet at the Barre for Friday Favorites and Erika at A Little Bit of Everything for Friday Favorites.

If you are looking for some menu ideas for the weekend and you missed this post from Monday, then you should head on over to check out my seasonal pear, prosciutto, goat cheese sandwich with a balsamic glaze and arugula.

It’s awesome.

Several weeks ago I talked about how I started listening to podcasts at work as opposed to Pandora, and I shared Taylor’s link to her podcast, Boss Girl Creative. I’m caught up on all her episodes now so this week I started searching for other blog/small creative business podcasts to listen to and get inspired by.  I found Elise Joy’s podcasts from Elise Gets Crafty and I’ve been listening to those this week.

If y’all have any blogger/entrepreneurial podcasts you like to listen to puh-lease let a sister know.

And speaking of Elise, in this episode she shared an Amy Poehler quote and it really stuck with me.

When I’m around people I don’t know I’m a huge introvert, but if I’m around my peeps I’m more open. Because I tend to be more of an introvert I think it holds me back from actually going out there and doing something and that is something that I’m trying to get better at, so I thought this quote was perfect for what I’m working on right now.

If you’re in need of some inspiration or quote reading, check out Ashley’s blog post, it’s a round-up of her fave Amy Poehler and Tina Fey quotes, these ladies are pretty awesome.

Do y’all have a favorite quote that gets your booty in gear?

I haven’t shared any home projects on the blog yet, but I am planning on starting that soon. If you haven’t checked out my about page I mention how this is actually not my first blog, I’ve had two others previously that mainly focused on home and diy which is something I really love to do.

Building with wood has been something that my bestie and I got into about a year or so ago now…? We made blanket ladders, floating shelves, a boot tray, and I made over some Ikea cabinets. So little things here and there, but whenever I’m making something I have so much fun and I think to myself damn, this would be awesome to do this all the time.

So, instead of talking about what I want to do I’m determined to actually start doing it. Not just woodworking, I have other interests as well that I’ll share with y’all along the way.

I found a place that offers woodworking classes, so I booked a class in April where I’ll learn about building built-ins before I could over-think what I was doing. There’s another class I’m interested in doing as well, it’s an intro to lathe, which is the machine you use to make turned table legs, candlesticks, anything that’s curved basically so I’m thinking about hollering at that too.

This lady Greta de Parry is awesome is my wood-working spirit animal. She is a wood-worker and sculptor and I think she is kicking butt and taking names.

What do y’all do that gives you the “damn, I’d love to do this all the time” feeling?

Last week I told y’all my exciting plans I had on Saturday. The weather the whole weekend was awesome, my bestie and I had an awesome time shopping and going out for lunch and she kicked my booty in her spin class.

This weekend, I have another fun Saturday. Today I’m leaving work at 12 (woot woot) to make the trek up to PA to go visit an old co-worker and Saturday we’re spending the day antiquing! We both have the same antique-y taste, the chippier and rustier, the better. So I can not wait to spend some time with her and hopefully find some cool stuff. She’s also an awesome photographer and took this here picture you see below when she lived in Texas.

Do y’all have a special partner in crime you go shopping/antiquing with?

Alrighty folks, that is all for today. Wherever you are I hope the weather is unusually warm and I hope you have a fan-tabulous weekend!

Happy Friday! I’m still drooling over your sandwich! I can’t wait to see more of your home projects. I love antiquing and haven’t been able to do it in awhile…kids (no excuse though). My favorite person to go with is actually my husband. Sometimes I think he has better ideas than I do. Our plan is to make it up to the elephant’s trunk in CT which is always on flea market flip. Have a great weekend! Beautifully Candid

Love me some Amy Poehler + Tina Fey! Independent of each other, or together, they are so fun!

Wish I could offer some help on your podcast question… I haven’t listened to the first one… ever, I pretty sure. And I can’t wait to see all of your woodworking skills!!

    Happy Weekending, Lady!

I love both of those podcasts!!! I just started listening to Being Boss and I love it. She Percolates is another good one. They haven’t had an episode in a while but focused on female entrepreneurs!
